First Southern's Young Adult Ministry (YAM) exists to glorify God by making disciple-making disciples (Matt. 28:18-20) and by becoming a church within a church (Eph. 4:11-12).  We desire to minister to young adults in all arenas of life (college, career, single, young married couples, etc...) by teaching, leading, serving, and loving them and by equipping them to teach, lead, serve, and love others.

Teaching:

The best place for young adults to get connected to our ministry and be taught and challenged from the Word of God is through our Sunday School class.  We having a growing class of twelve to fifteen young adults who meet each week to be taught and to be equipped to teach others.

Leading:

We desire to lead young adults into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ.  Our young adult pastor, Brian, is always ready and willing to counsel or pray with you and our group of young adults provide a great atmosphere for mutual accountability.

At First Southern, we long to provide an atmosphere where growing Believers have the opportunity to lead others as well.  While we see ourselves as a church within a church, we do not neglect fellowship with others in our congregation and we actively minister to other age groups.  Some of our young adults are currently leading in other ministries.  Wes, for instance, is our student ministries intern, and Hunter is our middle school Sunday School teacher.  Many others lead elsewhere, such as teaching children's Sunday School, serving as adult youth leaders, and mentoring students in our youth ministry (II Tim. 2:2).

Serving:

We would love to have you come serve with us in our young adult ministry.  We divide our service into two categories:  Inreach - serving those within our church body; and Outreach - serving those outside the church.

We have many service opportunities throughout the year.  We do ministry projects such as Parent's Night Out, where we provide childcare for families with young children so that the parents can have a "date night."  Our largest ministry event is our annual Change Our World Conference.  This young adult ministry-sponsored event is a one-day conference for our church family that equips our members to serve as witnesses in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and to the Ends of the Earth!

Loving:

This ministry is a group of people who love God and love people (Matt. 22:37-39).  We love hanging out after church with one another and with the students in the youth ministry.  We frequently have game nights or meals at each others homes and truly love being around one another.
